Song Bird, Night Birds
This print is printed and deeply embossed on a smooth Graveur paper, 22"w x 30"h. The image is 18"w x 26"h. This image is inspired by Oriental porcelains and the work of Walter Anderson mixed with memories of the coast. The plates look like a puzzle when ready for printing. One pass through the press produces the image after separate inking of 14 small plates, each etched, cut, and hand colored by the artist.

Newcomb Pottery with Magnolias

This etching is 24"w x 18 1/2"h including the signature. The French Arches buff paper is 30"w x 22"h with a watermark and deckel showing that each sheet is made in its individual screen. This paper is not cut or sheared.
The watermark uses the infiniti symbol as longevity is a priority at Arches. This mill is outside of Paris. The artist selects papers in the knowledge that the drawing depends on the sheet for its image.

Newcomb Pottery with Gladiolias

The vessels depicted are from the Newcomb Pottery Guild (circa 1920). Sadie Irvine was a master designer and decorator in the guild. She taught Frances Swigart at the Sacré Coeur. This image is a tribute to Sadie.
The double plates are intaglio with à la poupée. See the two plate marks embossed in the image. À la poupée is the traditional French hand wipe blending several colors of ink on the same etched plate. After the ink dries, this image is water colored.
